What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about quality music? Is it a disembodied dog head floating in space, singing the words to flashy dance song by French band M83? You’re so smart! That is the exact video for the band’s new song, “Do It, Try It,” which is, if we’re deciphering the lyrics correctly, about going to college and pursuing a legitimate career in the world of finance. It’s from the just-announced album, Junk.
It’s been nearly five years since M83 released Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, but I guess when you have a hit as big as “Midnight City” you can take that kind of time between releases. Junk comes with a beautifully realized, terribly ugly web site that makes known that Junk will, in fact, be accompanied by hideous, Muppet-like artwork.
Junk is out April 8. Watch the non-video for first single “Do It, Try It” below.
