Jonah Hill, who you can check out in the Coen Brothers’ Hail, Caesar! , last set foot on the SNL stage in 2014 — and things haven’t exactly improved since then. The actor finds it hard to keep it together in many of his sketches, so the jokes get a little sloppy. In his last appearance, Hill had just completed The Wolf of Wall Street and the energy was Marty Scorsese-levels high, but he was zippy as ever and willing to go for it. See how it all went down last night, below.
The Best
“CNN Election Center Cold Open”
We never wanted to imagine what Trump would be like as a leather daddy, but Bobby Moynihan’s Chris Christie gives us his best gimp boy anyway.
“Voters for Trump Ad”
Truth is scarier than fiction, and this is too real.
“The Champ”
An unexpected twist in the victorious day of a high school sports champ.
“Weekend Update”
Where the hell have you been hiding Jay Pharoah and his excellent impersonation skills, SNL?
“Inside SoCal Newer One”
Certainly not the best “Inside SoCal” we’ve seen, but here’s rooting for Kyle Mooney, SNL‘s eternal underdog, anyway.
The Worst
“Jonah Hill Monologue With Future”
The whole white boys who can’t rap thing, zzzz.
“Fond Du Lac News”
WRBWF (Would Rather Be Watching Fargo).
“School Auction”
Something about virgins and selling children to the Middle East. Dunno.
“Murder Mystery”
Ugh, bathroom jokes. Kate McKinnon looks like she can’t even by the end.
“Silver Star Catering”
A pointless sketch that probably sounded funnier inside Hill’s head.
