Did you like Vulnicura, Björk’s 2015 album, only you felt it was too gloomy to listen to at any given moment, and instead saved it for rainy days on which you questioned your every decision in life? Do you love Björk’s voice and Arca’s production, which beautifully bring to sonic life the heartbreak of Björk’s separation from artist Matthew Barney, only you wish it wasn’t heartbreak brought to life, but utopia? Well then, do we have news for you: Björk and Arca are back at it again with the hot tracks, only this time it’s going to be a lot happier. Well, as happy as Björk gets.
In a new interview with AnOther magazine, the singer, songwriter, and producer let leak that she and Arca already have three songs done. She goes on to describe the sounds of the album in comparison with the sounds on Vulnicura. “The last album, we sort of call it “hell” – it was like divorce! So we are doing paradise now. Utopia. We have done hell, we have earned some points.” As far as a potential release date, Björk says, “It should be from the artist’s point of view, not the business one. So I am very blessed that way. A lot of my mates have the same job as me, and they definitely have not had that.” So, don’t hold your breath.
For fans of Arca, know this isn’t the only thing he’s working on. He’s working on an album of his own and also collaborating with Hood by Air’s Shayne Oliver on a project called Wench. So, the guy is super busy, and all of what he’s done has also been super good. Hopefully this upcoming Björk album continues the trend.
