The CW Renews ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,’ Some Other Shows

Pack up your life and head to West Covina, fellow Bunches, because the CW has heeded the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and renewed Crazy Ex-Girlfriend!

Vulture reports that Rachel Bloom’s Golden Globe-winning musical comedy — which, in a tale as old as Nielsen ratings, has thus far garnered critical adoration but not much of an audience — will officially have a second season, though that season may not have a conventional broadcast return date or episode order. Which makes sense! With two full, original musical numbers per episode, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend might be ideally suited to a cable-style schedule of thirteen or so episodes a year.

Also renewed were fellow freshman show Legends of Tomorrow, as well as Jane the Virgin, iZombie, The Flash, The 100, Reign, The Originals, Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, and Supernatural. Basically, nothing is getting cancelled while The CW figures out how to deliver a full year’s worth of programming, including series aired during its traditional downtime of the summer months. Some of these shows are great (Jane the Virgin, The 100) and some are ratings warhorses (Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries), but as long as they make Crazy Ex-Girlfriend possible, we’re happy for all of them.
