Nick Offerman Made Pawnee Canoe Paddles for the ‘Parks & Rec’ Cast and Crew

Nick Offerman is one of the mainstream’s best avatars of “traditional masculinity,” as proven by his lifelong study of woodworking, enviable marriage to Megan Mullally, and his unassailable ability to grow facial hair. Man, that facial hair. Anyway, it’s the woodworking that’s got him in the news today, as word comes via Twitter that the real-life Ron Swanson (that’s his Parks and Recreation character) salvaged wood from the Parks & Rec set and created canoe paddles from it, which he then gifted to the show’s cast and crew.

This little tidbit was posted to Twitter by Michael Schur, creator of Parks & Rec. You’ll notice it features the seal of Pawnee.

You’ll remember that Offerman has a book titled Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living, so he’s been all about that canoe life for a long while. Offerman most recently showed up on his wife’s show, You, Me and the Apocalypse, as a man who likes to wear dresses. In case you haven’t seen it, we’ve included the clip below. It really is essential viewing.
