‘The Life of Pablo’ Set Free from the Prison of Tidal

The Life of Pablo is for sure the year’s most divisive album, because half of the rap-loving public has no interest in acquiring Tidal. Well, that all changes today, because Kanye West has set his creation free, letting it roam to the worlds of Spotify and Apple Music. It can also be downloaded for $20 at Kanye’s site.

So, what does this mean? Well, little more than that Kanye’s Tidal-only strategy was probably a) to bolster the service’s users, and b) to free himself to do things like change verses on songs without having to update however many different streams. It was also a way to guarantee that Pablo stayed in the headlines for far longer than its half-baked contents warrant.

This is good news for all of us who had no interest in Tidal, I guess, but it still doesn’t tell us anything about the release of that damn Donda game.
