David Oyelowo will produce and star in the big-screen version of Another Day in the Death of America, an upcoming nonfiction book about child shootings in the U.S. Allegiance Theater and Double E Pictures have acquired the film rights to the book, according to Deadline.

The book, written by The Guardian reporter Gary Younge, recalls the stories of the 10 children who were shot and killed across the country on November 23, 2013, revolving largely around interviews with the victims’ families. The date, according to Younge, was picked at random. The book is an expanded version of Younge’s 2007 Guardian article, “A Day in the Death of America,” which examined the deaths of nine children who were killed on November 25, 2006.

Though there’s no word on a script or other details, the safe bet is that Oyelowo will play Younge himself, based on the report, and the film may focus on the reporting process.

Younge’s book, Another Day in the Death of America, will be published in September by Faber & Faber in the UK, and will be published in the U.S. by Nation Books this October.
