Nothing mobilizes youth voters like indie rock, so kudos to Bernie Sanders for securing the repeated support of Vampire Weekend, the indie rock band even mom and dad could love. They made yet another appearance in support of Bernie at last night’s NYC rally, which was held in Washington Square Park and drew thousands and thousands and thousands of fans, creating one of the city’s beloved clusters of impenetrable people.
Because Bernie seems to remain ignorant of the power of the viral video, there’s no official recording of Vampire Weekend’s performance, but some of the fans captured a bit of it, which you can watch below. Worth noting is that one of the videos is simply of a soundcheck, and also Dave Longstreth, of Brooklyn superstars Dirty Projectors, also performs with them. Which is good, because it pads the blow of Rostam Batmanglij’s departure from the band and subsequent absence.
Watch the video below, and try to forget that this happened pretty soon after the conclusion of Vampire Weekend’s performance.
