[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the second episode of Game of Thrones, season six.]
So it finally happened. As expected, Jon Snow woke up at the end of “Home,” after coming down with a nasty two-episode bout of death. In order to keep the show’s secret, and make it seem like he really was dead, Kit Harington had to lie about his character’s status for months. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, Harington sent a message to his fans through Entertainment Weekly , apologizing for his part in the deception.
“Sorry? I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone,” Harington said. “I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care, or just be fine. But it seemed to have a, similar to the ‘Red Wedding’ episode, a kind of grief about it, which mean that something I’m doing, or that the show is doing, for Jon is right.”
Considering how few fans actually believed Jon Snow would leave the show for good, I think we can forgive Harington. Just this once.
