Listen to Justin Timberlake’s Funky New Song “Can’t Stop the Feeling”

In November, DreamWorks will release Trolls, an animated film about those hideous little creature dolls with the overly hairsprayed ‘dos from the ’80s that we all seem to love for some unspoken reason. Last night, Justin Timberlake shared the first song from that film’s accompanying soundtrack.

The song has been a long time coming, as it was announced back in January that, in addition to lending his voice to one of the film’s characters, JT would also serve as the film’s executive music producer. In a statement, Timberlake said, “I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one event.”

There’s no telling how extensive Timberlake’s work as executive music producer has been, but for now we finally have the first sign of life of the partnership. Tweeting that “Friday starts NOWWWW!” in the middle of a Thursday evening, Timberlake shared “Can’t Stop the Feeling” just a few hours ago. It’s his first new music release in three years, and even though it’s for a children’s film, it’s just as funky and catchy as any of his past work.

The song finds the former boybander reuniting with hitmaker aficionado Max Martin for the first time since the *NSYNC days, when they banded together to gift us the brilliant “Tearin’ Up My Heart.”

In the oddly adorable accompanying video, Timberlake is joined by many of his film’s costars — including Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani, and James Corden — to dance around in a studio, play with puppies, and drive around town. Watch that below.
