If you were tuned into the internet at all in the past few days, you may have seen a viral little clip from classic Nickelodeon cartoon Hey Arnold! floating around. In the clip, which is taken from the episode “Arnold’s Thanksgiving,” the titular football head and his enemy/admirer, Helga, walk past the window of a ground-floor apartment. The cartoon characters are blissfully unaware of what seems to be happening in the room just beyond the pane of glass, which is this: a man seems to be performing a sexual act on the buttocks of a woman. That is to say, it definitely looks like a dude is tossing some woman’s salad on Hey Arnold!
Well, the Vine clip says it’s someone “eatin’ ass,” which, as The A.V. Club found out from the show’s creator, Craig Bartlett, is at least halfway true! Bartlett insists that the clip shows a man eating a turkey with his hands, and that the woman in front of him is actually standing on the other side of the a table, talking animatedly. Her mouth movements are certainly not commands on how to improve whatever tossing the man is doing to her salad, and the man’s back-and-forth moving neck does not indicate he’s digging into her posterior, but rather into a beautiful piece of turkey. His exact words? “That’s Uncle Chuck eating a turkey with his hands. I assure you it was never intended to be what the guy tweeted it was.”
This is very disappointing. But, for fans of Hey Arnold! who want more than random Vine videos in their life, this is as good a time to remind you that there is a movie in the works! Be on the look out for any suggestive turkey eating.
