Drake Did a Painful-Funny Interview with Jiminy Glick/Martin Short

For the second episode of NBC’s Maya and Marty, the star guests just kept coming, among them Tina Fey, Sean Hayes, Steve Martin, and of course, Drake. Martin Short took the opportunity to interview his fellow Ontarian via his famous Jiminy Glick character, and the result is so, so awkward (“Do you miss the hood? And by ‘hood,’ I mean your foreskin”). Short goes after some low-hanging fruit—Drake’s birth name being Aubrey Graham, his origins as Jewish Canadian child star—and then tries his reaction at a few oddities, like giving him a donut or lambasting red-headed children.

Drake, who seems somewhat fond of parody interviews, takes it in stride, while Short, the comedy veteran, still makes you laugh at his dumb sitting-on-Drake gag. And he kind of nails the obnoxiousness of way too many reporters who clearly haven’t researched the celebrities they’ve been hired to interview.
