Colbert “Takes The Gloves Off” to Address Gun Control

After a vote on gun control (shockingly) failed in the Senate on Monday, Stephen Colbert continued what has felt like a long and continuous somber monologue on Orlando and its aftermath. He addressed his audience in seeming disbelief, criticizing Congress for not doing their job, and eventually becoming so perturbed that he launched into a segment called “Stephen Colbert Takes The Gloves Off” wherein he taunted hypothetical senators from behind a camera. Oh, did the gloves come off:

“Hey! You guys think a Terrorists Watch List is when you put ‘Homeland’ on your Netflix queue!” he said.

“Hey! You might as well ask the gun lobby to check for a hernia as long as they’ve got your balls in their hands!”

“Senate! you got more old white men lying around than a Life Alert ad!”

Colbert might not have the bite he had while over at Comedy Central’s Colbert Report, but he still sometimes manages to edge on reaching those old heights. Watch the whole segment below:
