Watch ‘The Witch’s’ Anya Taylor-Joy Play Another Societally-Tormented-Perceived-Threat-to-Society in ‘Morgan’ Trailer

Akin to sci-fi thrillers like Ex Machina, the haunting trailer for Morgan, produced by Ridley Scott, shows the eponymous lead (a synthetic human) beginning to simultaneously derail and gain some sense of superpower, including but probably not limited to moving people with her mind. She’s played by none other than Anya Taylor-Joy, whose character was similarly singled out and made a pariah for reasons beyond her control in The Witch.

Luke Scott makes his directorial debut with the new project, which also features the talents of Kate Mara and Paul Giamatti. Mara plays the role of a corporate woman who is sent to investigate the underground lab after a dangerous altercation occurs (cc: blood on walls, nerve-wrecked workers, emergency alarm sounding, the works.)

Alongside Mara and Giamatti are some especially noteworthy names, including Jon Snow’s favorite wildling on Game of Thrones, Rose Leslie and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The official synopsis is as follows:

A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

Morgan will make its way to theaters September 2; until then you can watch the trailer below.
