Fox to Set Precedent with Live Primetime Streaming Simulcast

Fox is becoming the first broadcast network to simulcast its primetime programming, and it’ll be done solely through the network’s own platforms (fox.com and FOX NOW) — viewable on iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, Apple TV and Google Chromecast, according to a press release from the company. This will bring a live streaming option to an estimated 98 million homes, starting tonight at 8 pm.

Of course, this is network television, so tonight your first dose of this new way of viewing will come in the form of… So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation. And going forth, Wayward Pines, Master Chef, Hotel Hell and Home Free will all likewise be included in the simulcast mix — sport programming, however, will not. Pity.
