CBS Is Developing ‘Her Honor,’ a Scripted Series About Judge Judy

Ever wondered how Judy Sheindlin became Judge Judy? Well, you’re about to find out: CBS is developing a scripted drama series about the life and career of TV’s highest earner, Variety reports.

Inspired by Sheindlin’s career trajectory, Her Honor will center on the youngest judge in New York, who commands the action in Family Court but wouldn’tcha know it, just can’t seem to get her personal life together! Sheindlin will serve as a co-story writer on the pilot, which will be written by Chicago Justice showrunner Michael Chernuchin.

In 2015, CBS, which currently produces Judge Judy, renewed the show through 2020. That agreement also gave the network first look at any new projects from Sheindlin’s production company, which makes the syndicated reality court show Hot Bench.

Sheindlin already earns a whopping $47 million a year on Judge Judy, which premiered 20 years ago; apparently her new five-year extension deal is even more lucrative than her previous contract. Now that’s Judge Judy justice!
