Pretenders Are Releasing a New Album in October — Then Touring with Stevie Nicks

Pretenders have, despite being undoubtedly most tied to the ’80s, continued to make music into the 2000s — but it’s been since 2008 since they released their last album, Break Up the Concrete. Yesterday, however, Pitchfork announced that there’s a new album, Alone, incoming.

The band’s teamed up with the Black Keys Dan Auerbach for the record, which will be released Ocgtober 21; by “the band,” that now mostly means vocalist/guitarist Chrissie Hynde — as she’s the only member of the original Pretenders who’ll be appearing on the album. (New members who appear on this album include Kenny Vaughan on guitar, Dave Roe on bass, Richard Swift on drums, Russ Pahl on pedal steel guitar, and Leon Michaels on keyboard.

In news that’s equally exciting, Hynde and the rest of the neo-Pretenders will be embarking on Stevie Nicks 27-date 24 Karat Gold Tour, opening for Nicks across the United States and Canada. The pre-sale began yesterday, but tickets will be officially on sale on September 12.
