There have already been numerous trailers (between teaser trailers and the original full trailer) for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them — to the point where you may think you already know where to find all the beasts (sad). But a new trailer, which also promises to be the final full trailer for the film before its release on November 18, 2016, reveals that there are still some fantastic beasts yet to be found, including a fantastic Ezra Miller-beast.
If you’d forgotten that Miller was part of this project, so had I, and seeing him here — albeit briefly — reminds you that, well, yes, Ezra Miller is in this film. Revelation! The new trailer is also the longest that’s been released yet for the film, and is full of rich, magic-y things swirling with glee (and dare I say a bit of ominousness) within the opulence of Roaring Twenties New York. For those who don’t know anything about this film, the David Yates-directed, J.K. Rowling-written film (based very, very loosely on a Comic Relief Charity glossary book of fantastic beasts she released in 2001) sees a certain “magizoologist” named Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) coming to New York and accidentally unleashing a suitcase full of magical creatures on the city, as the wizarding community then struggles to contain them so as not to reveal the secrets of the magical world to No-Majs (aka American muggles.)
The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo, Alison Sudol, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, and Ron Perlman. Side-note: Grendelwald, aka Dumbledore’s love/nemesis, is mentioned in passing here, and it’s been speculated that a young Dumbledore might make an appearance in the film. Here’s hoping next for a spin-off of this spin-off focusing particularly on Dumblewald.
