Old paintings become hilarious selfies in Olivia Muus new series called Museum of Selfies — which we first spotted on Honestly WTF. “This is a project that started when my friend aka right hand and I went to the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen,” writes Muus on her Tumblr. “I took a picture for fun and liked how this simple thing could change their character and give their facial expression a whole new meaning.” Muus is remarking on the facial expressions of figures in old paintings and those of ancient sculptures when her own hand appears in the picture frame holding a phone in selfie pose. Suddenly Caravaggio’s Medusa appears as though she’s capturing her own beheading. See more Museum of Selfie snaps in our gallery. Find out how to submit your own on Muus’ Tumblr.
