Does Mickey Rourke deliver a knockout blow in The Wrestler? You can count on at least one movie critic saying so, as this new release’s subject matter gives punny entertainment writers plenty of wrestling imagery to work with. (And the funny photo editors at Vulture plenty of real life imagery to work with. Bravo guys.) Now that Rourke is “back in the ring” and him and Marissa Tomei are delivering “hard-hitting” performances, the film — which opens in limited-release tomorrow — has been getting positive reviews as one of the year’s best. But before we see it, we’re enjoying the cheesy headlines first.
