Here is the First Full ‘Gilmore Girls’ Trailer — And it Looks Promising!

Exactly one month before it premieres, Netflix has released the first full trailer for its Gilmore Girls reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and dammit if this honorary Gilmore Girl didn’t squeal with joy and just a hint of melancholy at the sight of Rory and Lorelai strolling around Stars Hollow, coffee cups in hand.

Kitchen banter over Pop-Tarts! Jess and Rory, in conversation! A giant, wall-sized portrait of Richard (may he rest in peace!) Emily Gilmore in jeans and a t-shirt! This trailer is much more promising than the teaser released back in July, which showed the legendary mother-daughter duo trading pop-culture-related barbs (again, over Pop-Tarts).

This trailer hints at some actual conflict in the coming “season,” which will be split into four hour-plus episodes, one for winter, spring, summer, and fall. It appears Luke and Lorelai are still together, but if the shot of a lone Lorelai standing pensively on a mountaintop is any indication, things could be better. Golden girl Rory is also feeling the ennui, mentioning that she’s out of work and living some kind of “vagabond existence,” as Emily calls it, between London and New York. And the death of Richard has given Emily — who apparently has been reading up on her Marie Kondo — incentive to clean house.

All in all, this gives me hope for the coming season, which lands on Netflix just in time for Thanksgiving, on November 25.
