The Best and Worst of Last Night’s ‘SNL’ with Kristen Wiig

Share:

Former SNLer and forever funny lady Kristen Wiig hosted the series last evening. She was the perfect personality to help America move forward in a President-elect Donald Trump world, bringing several of her beloved characters back to the Studio 8H stage like a hot bowl of comfort food. Alec Baldwin returned as The Orange One, making fish faces like no one else. Several special guests dropped by to help out (with SNL alum Bill Hader lending his voice to one sketch). See how it all went down last night, below.

The Best

“Donald Trump Prepares Cold Open”

Kate McKinnon’s Kellyanne Conway can’t even with a panicked Donald Trump (welcome back, Alec Baldwin!). Jason Sudeikis’ Mitt Romney drops by for an awkward handshake.

“Kristen Wiig’s Thanksgiving Monologue”

Steve Martin and Will Forte help host Kristen Wiig sing a song about Thanksgiving. Shame on the audience for giving Martin such pathetic applause. Even Forte can’t believe it.

“The Bubble”

Bernie Sanders replaces George Washington on the dollar bill in The Bubble — a very safe space for progressive Americans.

“Secret Word with Kristen Wiig”

Wiig gets her Norma Desmond moment.

“Anderson Cooper 360”

A simple premise played hysterically. Cable news journalism isn’t immune to the insanity of our current political events.

“Target Commercial”

This must be what the suburbs are like.

“Whiskers R We with Kristen Wiig”

SNL toned down the sexual content and focused on well-timed cat lady jokes for this fan-favorite sketch.

The Worst

“QVC Auditions”

This must also be what the suburbs are like.

“Weekend Update”

This is the best they could do a week after the election?

“Thanksgiving Parade”

Creepy clown alert.

“Surprise Lady: Thanksgiving”

A 10-second joke stretched out to 4:55.

Musical Guest: The xx

(As of writing this, SNL has not made the second xx performance available to stream.)
