The women in artist hexelot‘s colorful illustrations listen to a lot of sad girl alt punk, but don’t mistake their broken hearts and tear-stained cheeks for fools. The Baltimore-based artist‘s subjects are also keenly aware that there’s a new war happening on women in our White House. They don’t have time for body shaming, they’re fierce feminists, and they don’t consider compassion a weakness. Hexelot pairs drawings with lyrics inspired by female-fronted bands, but not exclusively — those are just our favorite artworks.
