Missy Elliott has shared a new song, “I’m Better Feat. Lamb,” along with the track’s fantastically choreographed music video. (Elliott and Sean Bankhead are credited as the choreographers, and it was co-directed by Elliott and Dave Meyers.)
The video alternates between a few rooms, all of which bear differently-styled dancers — a mob of women with blonde pixie cuts and violently blue contacts atop exercise balls in front of a giant pool, a wall of dancers dressed as a swat team, a few cloaked figures suspended from the ceiling by bright red fabric. Each also bears a Missy costume/hairstyle change, from bobbed feather-shoulder pad Missy to crimped laser-reflecting, “Save the Humans” sparkling tracksuit-wearing Missy, to various others.
Rapper/producer Lamb, who provides the hook, is prominently featured in both the song and video, which are Missy Elliott’s first releases since Nov. 2015’s “WTF.” There’s still no news of whether we should soon be expecting a new album — which would be the iconic rapper’s first since 2005’s The Cookbook.
