In the wake of Donald Trump’s executive order banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries and temporarily barring refugees from entering the country, The Night Of/Rogue One star Riz Ahmed has teamed up with his co-star John Turturro to encourage the public to donate money for Syrian refugee relief.
In a video posted on Twitter last night, Ahmed points out, it’s “getting harder and harder for them to flee all the misery that they are suffering through no fault of their own.” So he and Turturro — who played a lawyer advocating on behalf of Ahmed’s character on The Night Of — are asking for donations via Ahmed’s CrowdRise page, which he actually established back in December.
The page is now very close to its goal of raising $150,000 for the Chicago-based non-profit Karam Foundation; you can choose to donate for specific items, like blankets, heaters, and food — or even an ambulance, if you have $15,000 to spare.
And for all you Night Of fans who weren’t satisfied with the show’s inconclusive ending — Ahmed and Turturro are definitely trolling you.
