Injecting big-band dynamics with 007 noir, Fratellis frontman Jon Lawler teamed with Scottish singer Lou Hickey to create Codeine Velvet Club.
The duo just released its self-titled debut album in the UK, following the debut of its first two singles, “Hollywood” and “Vanity Kills.” Finding the meeting place between Lawler’s indie-rock approach and Hickey’s jazz and burlesque background, the record keeps Spector-esque pop going strong in the new decade.
