The Best and Worst of Last Night’s ‘SNL’ with Jimmy Fallon

SNL alum Jimmy Fallon returned to his old stomping ground on the series last evening. Fallon has always been an enthusiastic comedian, exuding the right kind of showmanship for a live show. His reunion wasn’t particularly terrible (or hilarious), but he did manage to steal the spotlight in every scene. See how it all went down last night, below.

The Best

“Donald Trump Cold Open”

A cabinet full of Skeletor faces. (No shade on the Masters of the Universe character intended.)

“Celebrity Family Feud: Time Travel Edition”

It’s like SNL heard my cries last week and learned their lesson about using split screen during a live show. It just didn’t work. But watching Fallon run across the screen to quickly dress as young/old John Travolta got plenty of giggles.

“Take Me Back”

An unexpected response to the United Airlines drama.

“Weekend Update”

Some old faces, and did we almost just go to war with North Korea?

“Civil War Soldiers”

Civil War Boy Band.

“New Shirt”

We’ve all been there.

“Sully & Denise”

Reunited, and it feels so good.

“Basketball Scene”

Background basketball players destroy a movie’s most dramatic scene.

The Worst

“Jimmy Fallon Let’s Dance Monologue”

Too soon.

“Before the Show”

This was about as much fun as watching an actual middle-school musical.

“Easter Message from Sean Spicer”

Strong start, but ends with a whimper. Spicy needs some new tricks.
