Deadline reports that Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain will play screen legend Ingrid Bergman in Seducing Ingrid Bergman, based on a 2012 novel by Chris Greenhalgh. The book fictionalizes Bergman’s romance with Hungarian photographer Robert Capa and is set after World War II, continuing when the couple returned to the United States where the McCarthy hearings were taking place. In reality, Capa started working for American International Pictures, but the relationship fell apart when he left the States for Turkey on an assignment. Bergman was still married to Petter Lindström at the time of their affair. No director is attached to the project at this time, but Grace of Monaco writer Arash Amel penned the screenplay. Chastain is currently at Cannes serving as a juror. Her new film Molly’s Game, which marks Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, follows a former Olympic skier turned high-stakes gambling entrepreneur who becomes the target of an FBI investigation.
