The Best and Worst of Last Night’s ‘SNL’ with Dwayne Johnson

Share:

SNL inducted one of its most worthy guest hosts into the five-timers club last night: Dwayne Johnson. The charismatic actor is a ray of sunshine after announcements earlier this week that two of SNL’s longtime cast members, Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer, are exiting the series. This season finale marked the final screen appearances for both stars on the show. Fans will be pleased to see a Moynihan character favorite one last time at the “Weekend Update” desk. Bayer, although prominent in this episode, was bid adieu with a sketch about flatulence that was a mismatch for her subversive, subtle performance style. Oh well. This episode wasn’t a stellar moment for the writers of SNL all around, but Johnson proved he was more than willing to see it through even though he also deserved better material. (We’re looking at you, mad scientist sketch.) See how it all went down last night, below.
