Brooklyn-based, Swiss-American artist Chrissy Angliker, whose work we first learned about on Ignant, paints summer scenes unlike most you’ve probably seen before. In a series of artworks recently exhibited at her solo show Bodies of Water, Angliker’s paintings balance the hectic nature of a crowded beach with an abstract view we have of the ocean, and a unique tactile sensibility. (Sext: paint as thick as sunscreen.) On her website, Angliker writes that her work “is focused on visually translating her perception of herself in relationship to the world.” Her style is evocative, bold, and perfect for that 90-degree-melt-your-face-off vibe.
