“The Stranger Things kids appear in _” feels like one of the most common headlines (perhaps apart from “Trump Tweets _” or “Trump destroys _,” etc.) since the series premiered on Netflix in July, 2016. Between popping in to perform at awards ceremonies or appearing in music videos (Millie Bobby Brown aka Eleven appeared in Sigma’s “Find Me,” Finn Wolfhard aka Mike Wheeler appeared in PUP’s “Sleep in the Heat,” and Noah Schnapp aka Will Byers appeared in Panic! at the Disco’s “LA Devotee”), they seem to be everywhere. Today, The xx released a new music video for their I See You track I Dare You, and Millie Bobby Brown’s there, too! So is Moonlight breakout Ashton Sanders, who played the central character Chiron in the film’s stunning middle chapter. (Paris Jackson, Lulu, and Ernesto Cervantes also star.) The video was directed by the band’s frequent collaborator Alasdair McLellan (in collaboration with Calvin Klein’s Raf Simons… so if this video makes you want to buy clothing, that’s why). It sees Millie Bobby Brown playing a tween who misses her school bus, and ends up hanging with her sister (Lulu) and her friends (Jackson, Sanders, and Cervantes) as they play hookie and wander into an odd house (at which a famous indie band happens to be playing the song we’re listening to) and dance romantically, leaving Brown’s character alone to stew in preteen angst. If you’re from Los Angeles, you may recognize one of the video’s prominent locations — Lloyd Wright’s Sowden house. (Yes, Lloyd, not Frank Lloyd; the former, Frank Lloyd Wright’s son, designed the home that rests on a hill in Los Feliz, and looks like a Las Vegas emulation of his father’s architecture, and thus also like a Las Vegas emulation of a Mayan temple.) The band said in a press release: We are so happy to share our new video for ‘I Dare You.’ Our love letter to Los Angeles, a city close to our hearts, where we wrote and recorded parts of our album I See You. This is the third video our friend, the wonderful Alasdair McLellan, has directed for us. He collaborated with a hero of ours, Raf Simons, on the creative concept and direction. It was amazing to work with both of them and such a pleasure to meet and work with Millie, Paris, Ashton, Lulu and Ernesto! Watch:
