‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Will Return with More Painful/Hilarious Pettiness in October

Everything is returning, always! Your latest undead series is one whose zombie will most likely do little harm beyond getting in deeply banal, petty arguments — and those arguments will, more likely than not, be very very funny. Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s six-years-later 9th season now has a teaser trailer and a release date.

Technically, this Curb, which will premiere on October 1, isn’t a “revival,” because Curb never officially ended; it just… also didn’t continue. So perhaps the petty-argumentative zombie analogy doesn’t quite fit — but, hey, Dale Cooper came back to life as both a double-human and a half-human on Twin Peaks, so for all we know Larry David’s reemergence could be as a drippy walking dead man: anything is possible when TV never ends!

As Vox notes, the teaser actually takes its imagery from Larry David’s own announcement of the upcoming season back in 2016. He’d said “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned,” and so alas here he appears as Caesar, regally spinning for the camera — just like Caesar did, of course.

Gilmore Girls’ Lauren Graham will have a “multi-episode arc” in the upcoming season, according to TVLine. She told the publication, “It was the perfect answer to ‘What do I do now?!’ because this character is completely not me at all. I speak in a way that I don’t speak ever.”

Beyond David and Graham, the upcoming season will also feature familiar faces like Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin, Ted Danson, J.B. Smoove, Mary Steenburgen, and, most importantly, Susie Essman.
