For the upcoming seventh season of his anthology series American Horror Story, creator Ryan Murphy has merged the two most terrifying stories of 2016: the rash of creepy clown sightings, and the election of President Donald J. Trump.
American Horror Story: Cult traces a woman (Sarah Paulson, welcome back) having an extended nervous breakdown, prompted by the election (been there, with ya) and her fear of clowns. So when a rabid Trump supporter (Evan Peters) sends a nanny into her home to drive her over the edge, the fun begins. Take a look:
“If you get people scared enough, they will set the world on fire.” Yeah, no kidding.
This season will include Paulson and Peters’ fellow AHS alums Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, and Frances Conroy, along with newbies Alison Pill, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, and Lena Dunham. American Horror Story: Cult premieres September 5th, which hey, whaddaya know, is the very same week that the creepy-clown horror movie It opens, huh, what a wild coincidence.
