Provocative Photos of a Woman Objectified Through Domesticity

Share:

Amsterdam-based artist Csilla Klenyánszki, who recently submitted her work to contemporary art website Booooooom, examines traditional gender roles and the woman’s body as object. The artist writes that her ongoing series The Reminiscence of Being a Woman “investigates the evolution of objectification, while using domestic chores for its visualization. It vanishes the line between the female body and objects, while dehumanizing its subject by intentionally not showing her facial features and raises the question: Where does one’s identity end and becomes the body nothing but a (functional) object (and vice versa)?” Klenyánszki’s images are often humorous, but the disturbing identity shifts twist the body and objects into an abject spectacle that is at once provocative and uncomfortable.
