A Wrinkle in Time is one of our most anticipated movies of 2018, for several reasons: the beloved source material, the stellar cast, and of course director Ava DuVernay, helming her first narrative feature since the astonishing Selma . And we’re not the only ones excited about it, apparently; Disney had originally scheduled it for release on April 6, then moved it a month earlier, into the more competitive March 9 timeframe. (That’s not something they do when they’re discouraged by the footage.) We got a teaser trailer last summer, and now we have the first full trailer. Check it out:
What DuVernay is doing here is really kind of marvelous – taking a well-known story and giving it a decidedly modern bent, via colorblind casting and a generous sprinkling of Black Girl Magic. What do we think? We think we wouldn’t mind if they’d move it another month earlier.
