‘True Detective’ Season Three Adds Stephen Dorff as a Lead Investigator

We haven’t heard a True Detective update lately, but Variety has a late holiday gift if you’re still feeling the Nic Pizzolatto HBO crime drama that last aired in August 2015. The trade reports that Somewhere and Blade star Stephen Dorff will star in the third season of the series as “an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner, has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.” The actor joins a cast that includes the Oscar-winning Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) as a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas and Fantastic Beasts star Carmen Ejogo as Arkansas schoolteacher Amelia Reardon, who has a connection to two missing children in 1980.

Here’s hoping for another season of getting sucked into a bunch of your uncle’s cousin’s sister’s best conspiracy theories on Facebook . . . ok, maybe not. We’d love to get into some major Yellow King-esque weirdness, but everything feels so normie in post-Twin Peaks season three world.
