One of the nicest surprise of this 21st century, entertainment-wise, has been the discovery that Bob Odenkirk can pretty much do anything. When the Mr. Show and Larry Sanders Show alum was cast in a semi-regular role on Breaking Bad, he was presumed to be comic relief, and initially, he was – but he and the show’s writers dug out a strain of melancholy in the character, which he’s mined with awe-inspiring success on the excellent prequel/spin-off Better Call Saul. He then turned that skillful work into a nice-sized supporting role in Spielberg’s latest, The Post.
And now we’re going to see if Mr. Odenkirk is also an action hero. According to THR , he’s signed a deal to co-produce and star in a new revenge thriller called Nobody, and it’s not just any action revenge thriller; the executive producers are John Wick co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, the latter of whom also directed Atomic Blonde, and the script is by Derek Kolstad, who has penned both of the Wick movies (and is also writing the third).
So, yeah, Bob Odenkirk is basically doing a John Wick movie. When can I buy my ticket?
