It’s not a ghost town yet, and as we reach the beginning of the end of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, there’s still a whole bunch of awesome happening right here in Park City. First up: Did you hear there was a film critic fist fight? Oh yes, John Anderson, a critic from Variety, Newsday and other outlets, dropped some fist action on one of the producer’s reps from the film Dirt!</a>, Jeff Dowd. (Here’s where you might want to know that Dowd was the real inspiration behind The Big Lebowski character, The Dude. Um, yeah.) Why? Because Dowd was pressing Anderson to re-consider his negative opinion on Dirt!, and Anderson didn’t feel like hearing it anymore.

And speaking of a need to get laid more often, Steven Soderbergh surprised (some) of the Sundance crowd by sneak previewing his new film The Girlfriend Experience, starring porn star Sasha Grey as a high-priced Manhattan call girl offering the total package; that girlfriend experience. Though still a little rough in spots, the fly-on-the-wall digital flick was well liked among the press and considered to be a score for Soderbergh.

In further news, the film Manure</a> was yanked from the festival with no explanation following only one public screening and no press screenings. Buzz has it actress Tea Leoni, the film’s star, sat stone-faced through the post-screening Q&A with no idea of what she just watched.

Other buzzed-about films today: • The Carter – a doc that follows rap artist Lil Wayne on tour, through hotel rooms and clouds of pot smoke. • Bronson</a> – A sorta-biopic on the life and times of Britain’s most notorious criminal, Charles Bronson. • Big Fan – Patton Oswalt plays a lonely football fan whose obsession with his favorite team, the New York Giants, leads to him taking a beating from his favorite player.
