It’s been a big few days for luxury fashion label “short films” (a.k.a. “long commercials”) directed by celebrities. Last week, Karl Lagerfeld brought us a clip so fabulous it unintentionally verged on self-parody. And now, David Lynch has debuted the 16-minute Lady Blue Shanghai, created for Dior and starring Marion Cotillard. The film buffs at /Film are disappointed that the plot doesn’t add up, but frankly, we’re just happy to see a movie obviously created to sell handbags accomplish the task with some wit, style, and (yes, Lagerfeld, we’re looking at you) self-awareness. Watch the film and tell us what you think after the jump.
